So after the gig on Friday my best friend was determined for me to meet Joel and I was kind of hoping I would because he’s one of the few reasons I’m still here today so anyway he came out and everyone went mental and he looked as if he was about to have a panic attack but he faked a smile and took photos and stuff like the angel he is; example number one of how perfect he is. Anyway Ameerah was like “Joel, can Beth have a photo?” and he went sure and had his arm on my back then this woman yanked him away from me and went “my daughter wants a picture” like what the hell? Can’t you wait two seconds? So he took a picture with this woman’s daughter and seen as it was clear that he was terrified his security guard finally took the hint to get him to the car but seeing him panic made me want to cheer him up so out of nowhere I screamed at the top of my lungs “its John fucking Mayer” and Joel turned around grinned at me and gave me the thumbs up. As much as it hurts that I didn’t get a picture with my idol it makes me happy that for a second I was the reason behind that beautiful smile of his and hey who knows maybe that girl needed one more than I did. The moral of my story is give the boys space and they will stay for longer. Le fin.
I remember my trip two years ago, to San Francisco. I took a cab to this bridge while my sister was on a conference call. I stood there for about two hours, looking down, people watching, and wondering how far down the water was. A girl sat next to me, and asked me, “You’re not going to jump„ are you?” I smiled and reassured her I wasn’t. That I was just a tourist. She then said, “You look a lot like my sister. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to make you uncomfortable. But I had to ask, can I hug you? You just look so much like her.” I felt awkward at first, but then I realized. “She jumped?” This girl’s face just crumpled, and she started crying. I hugged her, without a second thought, and for some reason I apologized. Not sure what else I could say. She goes, “Those were the last words she ever spoke to me.”
And I will never forget this girl, her name was Ariana.

These two were supposedly based on a real couple, who said they wouldn’t board a life boat as long as there were younger people still aboard the ship. They both went below deck, presumably to their room, and that’s the last time they were seen.

Isador & Ida Straus
The couple had been married for 41 years at the time of the disaster. They raised six children together, and were almost inseparable. On the rare occasion that they were apart, they wrote each other every day. They even celebrated their birthdays on the same day, although they were well apart from one another. During the sinking, Titanic’s officers pleaded with the 63 year old Ida to board a lifeboat and escape the disaster, but she repeatedly refused to leave her husband. Instead, she placed her maid in a lifeboat, taking her fur coat off and handing it to the maid while saying, “I won’t need this anymore”. At one point, she was convinced to enter one of the last two lifeboats, but jumped out as her husband walked away to rejoin him.
When last seen by witnesses, they were standing on deck, holding each other in a tight embrace. Their funeral drew some 6,000 mourners at Carnegie Hall.
A monument to them still stands in a Bronx cemetery, it’s inscription reads: “Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it.”

last night at the Brighton date Andy asked us if we knew standing in the dark. We all started singing the song to him and it was the most surreal moment for them I think, they all took their in ear pieces out and Joel was beaming, Adam was in shock and couldn’t quite believe it and Andy and Ryan were looking at each other smiling like goons and mouthing ‘wow’; this was the proudest moment of my life, I am so proud of them.
I don’t think there’s anyone that’s met them that doesn’t feel this way… Even Adam’s really tall and he’s the smallest
